Coalition for App Fairness Statement on the Paris Commercial Court’s ruling on the app store case against Google

PARIS – The Coalition for App Fairness welcomes the important decision adopted by the Paris Commercial Court on 29 March against Google.

“We commend EU policymakers on this significant step towards the fight for a free and fair mobile app ecosystem “CAF’s guiding principles have always been aimed at addressing the abuses made possible by the imbalance of power between monopoly mobile platforms and developers that have come to depend on them,” said Coalition for App Fairness executive director Rick VanMeter. “We are pleased that the Paris Commercial Court is recognizing this imbalance by taking concrete and forward-looking steps to address it. The court ruling in France follows a global pattern of authorities tackling unfair practices and pushing for a level playing field across the app ecosystem. We will continue to fight for greater reforms until all app developers and consumers benefit from a fair mobile app market.”
