Coalition for App Fairness Praises European Commission’s Non-Compliance Investigations into Mobile App Gatekeepers

BRUSSELS – Rick VanMeter, Executive Director of the Coalition for App Fairness (CAF), released the following statement after the European Commission launched non-compliance investigations under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) into Apple and Google over their anticompetitive app store practices.

“Apple and Google are clearly violating multiple provisions of the Digital Markets Act. The European Commission’s investigations are a first step toward holding these gatekeepers accountable and are a clear sign that they intend to strongly enforce this new law. We hope the investigations will expand and be conducted swiftly so that European consumers and developers can realize the benefits of competition in the app marketplace without further delay.”
