Citing a recent economic report estimating nearly $9 billion in annual consumer savings from a more competitive app marketplace, the letter calls on the Committee to pass legislation requiring dominant platforms to allow third-party app stores, enable users to set alternative defaults, permit removal of preinstalled apps, and provide developers fair access to essential tools and interfaces.
The coalition urges lawmakers to seize this opportunity to protect consumers and foster a more open, competitive mobile app ecosystem.
