CAF Welcomes CMA Decision to Close Competition Act Cases and Focus on DMCC Implementation

LONDON, UK – Today The Coalition for App Fairness (CAF), released the following statement in response to the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) decision to close existing Competition Act cases into Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store and prioritse implementing the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCCA).

“With this announcement the CMA has made it clear that they intend to hold Apple and Google accountable for their dominance in the mobile app ecosystem using the most effective tool at their disposal: implementation of the DMCCA. By rejecting Google’s flawed proposal, the CMA has heeded the chorus of concerns from developers about the negative impact of their anticompetitive practices. We look forward to continuing our work with the CMA to create a competitive digital market in the UK that benefits consumers and developers.”
