BRUSSELS – Today, Gene Burrus, Global Policy Counsel for the Coalition for App Fairness (CAF), issued the following statement in response to Apple’s new proposal to comply with the DMA:
“Apple’s sham compliance is not just a calculated deception – it’s illegal. By blatantly ignoring the European Commission’s clear ruling from April, Apple is doubling down in its defiance. Any developer that dares to point customers to make purchases outside the App Store will face new restrictions and new fees that violate the Digital Markets Act. This is a calculated move to preserve its market dominance, stifle innovation, and push higher costs onto consumers. We look forward to addressing this directly with Apple on Monday at the DMA Compliance Workshop.”
