Yesterday, The Coalition for App Fairness (CAF), sent a letter to President Trump’s appointee Ambassador Jamieson Greer as the United States Trade Representative congratulating him and bringing to his attention that certain foreign competition laws, such as the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in Europe, play a crucial role in dismantling anti-competitive practices that have historically stifled U.S. businesses.
“Your leadership in this area is vital to ensuring American businesses can compete and thrive on the global stage,” CAF wrote in its letter to Greer. “We commend your commitment to identifying and addressing barriers to the global expansion of U.S. companies, particularly your recognition of the importance of promoting competition and innovation in the digital marketplace. As we emphasized in our comments submitted on March 11, 2025, certain foreign competition laws, such as the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in Europe, play a crucial role in dismantling anti-competitive practices that have historically stifled U.S. businesses. We are pleased to see that your office has taken these considerations to heart and is focused on encouraging and protecting American-first innovation, which we believe will create a more level playing field for American app developers and tech companies.”
CAF applauds President Trump’s commitment to antitrust enforcement and his selection of leaders dedicated to promoting fair competition within the app ecosystem, addressing the challenges posed by dominant tech platforms.
