Family Zone, OurPact Join the Coalition for App Fairness

Apple Undermined Tools to Help Parents Protect Children Online

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Coalition for App Fairness (CAF) today announced that Family Zone and OurPact, developers of technology that helps parents and guardians keep their children safe online, have joined the coalition as members. CAF now includes more than 60 app developers of all sizes fighting for fair competition in the app ecosystem.

“We are thrilled to welcome Family Zone and OurPact to the Coalition for App Fairness as we continue to fight for an open  and fair app marketplace,” Meghan DiMuzio, Executive Director of CAF said. “Apple’s attempts to undermine these two companies through anti-competitive practices put critical services that help parents protect their children and manage screen time at risk in an increasingly digital world. We look forward to working with both Family Zone and OurPact to ensure developers have access to a competitive digital ecosystem that will promote privacy and security better than top-down control imposed by a monopoly.”

“Family Zone is pleased to join the Coalition for App Fairness as CAF continues to garner momentum around the world,” Tim Levy, Managing Director of Family Zone said. “Over the years, we have made security and privacy for families our top priority. By joining CAF, we will continue fighting to ensure every parent can benefit from new tools to help keep their children safe.”

“Since starting OurPact, we have been committed to ensuring a safe and responsible internet experience for our customers,” Amir Moussavian, founder of Eturi said. “Today, we’re excited to take that commitment to the next level as we stand up against harmful, monopolistic practices. We’re excited to join the Coalition for App Fairness so that parental control and digital well-being apps applications like ours are not thwarted by Apple’s anti-competitive practices.”

Based in Australia, Family Zone provides a cyber safety answer for families around the globe across every device. The company’s parental controls are the preferred choice of more than 650,000 households worldwide due to its ability to allow parents to set firm boundaries around what children access online. OurPact, used by over 1 million families worldwide, keeps children safe when they are online as it enables parents to track and manage their children’s app access, monitor device usage, and filter web content on iOS and Android devices.
